Burrell Aviation plans $20 million cargo investment at CVG airport

A Colorado-based aviation company plans to spend $20 million to build a new air cargo warehouse facility at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport for tenants, the latest investment in a growing part of CVG’s business.

The project is expected to create 80 to 100 permanent jobs by an unannounced tenant, which will occupy the bulk of the building. The property has airfield access. Burrell develops, operates and invests in next-generation supply chain infrastructure for non-passenger aviation companies. The tenant will handle ground cargo generated by existing airlines and new customers that come in as a result of increased use of CVG.

“We’re doing that because of our conviction that CVG is one of the finest airports in the country. They’ve created momentum that perfectly aligns with our business model,” Burrell Group Chief Operating Officer Roger Wilson told the Business Courier. “We have one of the leading cargo handlers in the nation that’s going to be operating 60,000 square feet of the facility.

CVG’s board approved a 30-year lease for Burrell on May 15. Burrell Aviation has facilities in operation or in late-stage negotiations in Idaho, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, Nebraska, Louisiana, Mississippi and Florida.
