Cincinnati named one of nation’s hottest rental markets for 6th month in a row

The Queen City is the fourth-most-coveted market for apartment renters in the U.S., RentCafe’s November rental activity report found, marking the sixth month in a row Cincinnati has been among the top 10 cities that are attractive to renters.

The draw and competition for apartments in Cincinnati comes as the region only added 0.3% rental stock between January and March 2023 and completes multiple office conversion projects to bring more housing online to meet demand.

The report also found the average monthly rent for an apartment in Cincinnati is $1,300. More than two-thirds of apartments – 74% – in Cincinnati have monthly rent at $1,500 or lower.

Rental demand in Cincinnati peaked in July, when Cincinnati was the third-most-sought-after city in the U.S., according to RentCafe. Cincinnati held the fourth-place ranking the other months this year: May, June and August.

RentCafe ranks the 150 largest cities across the U.S. as a part of its monthly rental activity reports.

RentCafe gave Cincinnati a score of 84.79/100 points
