Cincinnati’s City Club Apartments one step closer to creating a ‘city within a city’

City Club Apartments hosted a topping off ceremony for the Union Central Tower on July 28, marking a major milestone for the conversion project that will transform the Cincinnati staple into an amenity-rich apartment hotel community.

City Club Apartments, a private real estate owner, developer and operator, is billing the project as a “city within a city” when united with City Club Apartments’ existing CBD Apartments at West Third and Vine. The two are connected through a sky bridge, and residents will be able to use the resort-class amenities in both buildings. They will jointly be called the City Club Apartments Union Central once the project is complete.

Construction work on the tower, which was originally built in 1913, started in June 2022. The project is now being hailed as one of the most significant historical conversions under construction in the U.S.

In addition to 281 apartment units, amenities including an entertainment restaurant, salon, medical spa and professional health club will occupy the street level space at the building. Between both City Club buildings, there will be more than 575 apartments and penthouses and over 700 residents, according to a news release.

Union Central Tower, located at 1 W. Fourth St., is one of the most iconic pieces of Cincinnati’s skyline. The 31-story, 1913 Garber & Woodward/Cass Gilbert-designed building was, at the time of its construction, the fifth-tallest building in the world and the second-tallest building outside of New York.

Other amenities coming to the tower include a private club, outdoor spa, indoor sauna, community garden, dog park and dog run, and There will be over 140 different floor plans available to choose from.
