Corporex fills time capsule to celebrate $1 billion dollar riverfront development, Ovation

Firm executives and future residents of the Ovation development ceremonially cut a ribbon at the newly-opened pedestrian bridge and provided a look at the construction site, which attendees were able to tour during the unveiling ceremony.

During the preceding news conference, Corporex Chief Real Estate Officer Tom Banta announced the 2-by-2-foot capsule will be buried beneath the pedestrian bridge to serve as a milestone of the construction’s progress. Members of the media, including the Business Courier, were invited to submit items to the time capsule.

The time capsule, to be underground for at least 25 years, is a part of the Ovation project, which will transform the shore where the Licking and Ohio rivers meet. Ovation’s first condominium-style residences will be fully completed in 2024.

The project is centered around being a multifaceted development, according to Banta, who noted the diverse set of building types and transportation methods supported by Ovation.

“The idea of a walkable community is everything, including the music venue,” Banta said. “Most of what you see (around this area) is walkable. (For instance), the entire bridge and the walkways are all pedestrian-only.”

Corporex provided jobs for 1,929 employees companywide and 384 in Northern Kentucky in 2022, according to Business Courier research.
