Covington rooftop restaurant and cocktail bar opens to the public

Bill Whitlow will open Opal Rooftop Restaurant & Bar on the seventh floor of Covington’s Republic Bank building at 535 Madison Ave. Sept. 29.

“When people come to Opal, they’re stepping foot into a one-of-a-kind experience, and we believe that’s what really will set us apart,” Whitlow said in a news release. He said the 360-degree views of downtown Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky are unmatched in the region.

Opal’s menu features a couple of steaks, duck and charcuterie boards alongside burgers – one will be served with blue cheese, bone marrow butter and caramelized onions.

The menu was crafted by Culinary Director Eric Polhamus, who joined Whitlow’s first restaurant, Rich’s Proper Food, in 2020.

Opal is open 4-11 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 4 p.m.-midnight Friday and Saturday and 4-11 p.m. Sunday.
